As Chief Financial Officer of United Utility Services, Chad Van Sweden leads the company’s financial strategy and oversees finance and accounting functions, including financial planning and reporting, budgeting and forecasting, treasury, tax compliance, internal controls, and mergers and acquisitions. With more than 20 years of experience across executive leadership, private equity, investment banking, and strategic consulting, he brings deep financial and operational expertise to the organization.
Prior to joining United Utility Services, Chad served as Chief Financial Officer of Centuri Group, Inc., where he led the financial organization for a utility services company supporting electric and gas distribution and urban transmission customers throughout the United States and Canada. Earlier in his career, he spent seven years advising utility services companies on strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate finance as a consultant.
Chad also spent 14 years with Oaktree Capital Management’s GFI Energy Group, where he identified and executed private equity investments, provided portfolio oversight for three funds totaling $2.5 billion in equity capital, and led the initial public offerings and secondary offerings of GT Solar and InfraSource. He began his career in the Global Energy & Power and Mergers & Acquisitions groups at Credit Suisse First Boston and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, advising companies on capital markets transactions and strategic acquisitions.
In addition to his executive leadership experience, Chad has served on the boards of directors of nine companies, including Centuri Group, Infrastructure and Energy Alternatives, and GT Solar, providing strategic guidance across the utility and industrial sectors.
Chad earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Cornell University.
